Turkey is a peculiar country, a place between two countries and with two capitals. A history such as that of Istanbul and other official such as Ankara. Turkey is a mixture of Asia and Europe. It is a country with more than 70 million people, of which 10 million live in Istanbul. It is a memento of what was once the Ottoman Empire, which was overthrown in WWI. Today, Turkey has nothing to do with what it was 100 years ago. It is a country in expansion, in tourist development, and a country that is more integrated in Europe than it is in Asia. It is located to the east of the old continent, and to the west of Asia, bordering with countries like Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Bulgaria on the Europe side, and Iran, Iraq, and Syria on the Asian side. It also brushes with the Aegean Sea, the Mediterranean, and the Black Sea, and is only a little more than 15 km to Greece by crossing the Aegean Sea.
Between the main cities of Turkey, we should mention Istanbul, an authentic jewel of the Ottoman Empire and main city i the country with more than 10 million inhabitants. The official capital, Ankara, has almost 5 million inhabitants. Other important cities are Izmir, Bursa, Adana, and Gaziantep. All of them have populations over a million inhabitants.
